If we all had our own “grocery carts” in life – ones that we took to the store each and every time we went grocery shopping, my grocery cart would have a bumper sticker on it that said, “I’d rather be cleaning the toilets”.
There is nothing I enjoy about grocery shopping.
Nothing.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about why I dislike it so much.
It’s not the, “Can I have a cookie?” , “When can I have a cookie?”, or “Can I have another cookie?”
It’s not the “I don’t WANT to sit in the cart, I want to walk.”
It’s not the crying or the whining or the running away.
I finally figured it out.
Ready for it?
It’s how many times I have to touch the food!
Grab your food and put it in the cart. Touch #1
Grab your food and put it on the check out belt. Touch #2
Grab your food and put it in the car. Touch #3
Grab your food and put it on the counter. Touch #4
Grab your food and put it in the fridge or the pantry. Touch #5
That’s A LOT of work for this girl.
Really, someone needs to come up with a drive thru grocery store.
{ read my post HERE on the other things that should also have drive thrus}
MY DREAM
I pull up to said drive thru grocery store – Hand them my list of 15 things, and roll up my window while they shop.
Radio goes on, I blare a little Blurred Lines, and wait for them to shop for me.
I pull up a tidge, and they place the bags in the trunk for me.
Do you realize how many “touches” this eliminates for me?
Until then, I will plod on through life with my #firstworldproblem and continue my grocery shopping.
Although, I’d much rather be emptying the dishwasher or picking up dog poop!
What are your least favorite things to tackle during the day?

I hate grocery shopping, too! For me its the loading and unloading and carrying into the house and putting away. And if I’m in the grocery store and realize I forgot something and its on the entire other side of the store that I just left, FORGET it. We will do without it that week.
I’m right there with you! I hate grocery shopping too. I used to live in a city where the stores would do your shopping and deliver the groceries to your house for an extra fee. I never took advantage of it at that time, but I’d love to be able to do that now that I have 4 kiddos to drag everywhere.
You should check your local grocery store. We used to have a grocery store that would pull your groceries for you and have it in a cart, you just walk in and pay for it and leave. Not quite the drive thru of your dreams, but close. They also did delivery for a small fee, but I was too disorganized to use these services. I always saw something I should have written on my list that I forgot about until walking through the aisles.
I’m an odd duck in that I LIKE grocery shopping. However, I make my older two kids (12 & 10) take the groceries out of the car and put them all away inside. It took me a while to do this because I’m kind of a kitchen cupboard control freak.
