Fabric Covered Jars, Craft Stash Giveaway {& Tuesday Time Out}

It’s a big day today on this little ole’ blog!  There are a TON of things going on….maybe possibly TOO much going on, but it’s all happening on a Tuesday, and I can’t move the party, so I just decided to make it one BIG HONKIN’ PARTY!

Today’s fabric jar tutorial is a part of my contribution to Crazy Little Projects and her Project Giveaway today!  There  are 3 other blogs participating in a giant tutorial/giveaway party!

Create.Craft.Love   {KitchenAid Mixer Vinyl Makeover}

Crazy Little Projects  {Washi Tape Notebook & Pen Set}

Naptime Crafters {Retro Pillowcase Romper}

Burlap Bud Vase {Sweet C’s Designs}

Each blog is showcasing their own tutorial, and you can enter to win the supplies we used for our projects!  Enter the giveaway below! My tutorial for Fabric Covered Jars is really the type of item that can be used for so many things around the house!  I just happened to have  a need for cute pen cups in my office – and was asked to make something that would be easy for others to make as part of our giveaway – so it was perfect timing! Let’s just “pretend” that I need to make pen cups because because I have a huge issue with buying Sharpie markers.  Again, we’re “pretending” that I buy colors I don’t need over and over again and certainly “pretending” that I actually buy MORE Sharpies when I run across a 24 pack that I HAVE to have! If I actually WERE to have done all of this, it would cause me to have multiple pen cups around my office.  None of them matching, and the ones that DO match are {U…G…L…Y}.
Just “pretending” to do all of these things has caused me to have an overflow of cute pens in really ugly jars….so it is time to “cute-ify” the desk! These jars could also be used as flameless candle jars, a cup for straws on the counter, a mini vase with small pebbles in the middle, a candy jar, and so much more!  The idea is that you can customize the jar anyway you like once you’ve got the fabric in! You’ll need the following supplies: A wide mouthed jar {I got mine at Dollar Tree} lightweight fabric {I tried the first time around with a ridiculously cute fabric I love, but it was too thick and didn’t look right!} Mod Podge {you can use the Fabric Mod Podge, but I used Glossy} A paintbrush Jute, yarn, or other embellishments for the outside!

First, you’ll need to wrap your fabric around the outside of the jar to measure it.  Cut your fabric just a tad longer than what you’ll need {better to be safe than sorry – and you can trim it before you glue the last edge!}

Cut your fabric piece into three smaller pieces for easier placement!

Paint 1/3 of the inside of the jar with Mod Podge and place the fabric on the jar {fabric side facing out}

 Scoot your fabric down to the bottom edge and press down to get all the air bubbles out! Paint the other two sections and when you get to the last section, trim off any excess length and then match the last piece up as best you can to the starting piece! Your fabric will extend over the top a tad, and that’s ok!  Once it dries it will be easy to trim up…then paint on a layer of Mod Podge around the rim to secure the loosey goosey pieces! I wrapped around some jute and added a button brad to the front for extra cuteness! My Sharpies are so much happier in their new home! {whoops, I mean, if I actually HAD any Sharpies, they’d love to live in their new cute jar!}

Now, onto this week’s party….sponsored by Nathan from Life & Everything In Between.
